Latpanchar Bird photography

11/01/24 : Arrival

It was thursday morning. I had a flight from Bengaluru to Bagdogra at 5:15am. Fortunately the flight got delayed by 2 hours. This gave me more time to sleep.
I left for Airport at around 5:15 am and reached Bagdogra at around 10:15 am.
Ranjit came to pick me up to take to the homestay at Latpanchar.
It took us around 2 hours to reach the Latpanchar.

That day I took rest and explored latpanchar by walk with Sundar, who also came for bird photography.

12/1/24 : Nursery

Next day we left for nursery area to spot red-headed trogon and rufous necked hornbill.
We were lucky to spot 2 pair of rufous necked hornbills

After that we went to spot red-headed trogon.
We spot both male and female trogon, but able to click female properly

In morning session, we also spot – owl and shotwing.



Then after lunch, we went to spot sunbird but didn’t get the shot. Instead found this:

Then evening , we sat in a hide near our homestay and spot

13/1/24 : hide photography

In morning session, we sat in hide for 2.5 hrs but only one bird came there.




Then in afternoon , we again went to spot sunbird and found it

In evening, we went to spot trogon but unable to click male again.

14/1/24 : Mahaldiram

In morning session, we went to mahaldiram area to spot small birds.
It took us around 1 hour to reach there.
We were able to see many beautiful birds.

After dinner, sabir ji took me to click owl.



15/1/24 : Departure

I left for Bharatpur next from Latpanchar.

I fully enjoyed the hospitality of subba family and tasty food by savita subba

I was suggested that the best time is March to April for Latpanchar.
